The latest News from the Luray Zoo.
I Would like to give an update on my wife Christine. She has now been down at Duke University in North Carolina for a few days after being at a hospital here in Virginia for a very long time. They believe they have found what is wrong as well as a game plan as to how to fix it. It will involve a very risky surgery but everyone that has meet Christine knows my wife is a fighter. She would like to thank everyone for all the beautiful flowers and kind words and helping her keep her spirits up. She would like to thank everyone that sent her pictures of the animals on there visit to the zoo, she really does appreciate it and enjoyed seeing the pictures. She is very home sick and misses our Daughter Nala as well as all the animals. My wife is an amazing woman and pours her heart and soul into everything that she does here at the zoo and she is very missed. She is the engine that keeps this place doing the amazing work it does. She has dedicated her life to these animals and making sure that every animal is loved and cared for as well as making sure everyone has an amazing visit that they will remember for ever. We are a small family owned facility our visitors to us have become family over time and we are very gratefully for you helping us get through the this very hard and scary situation. For those requesting were you can send cards and flowers to you can drop them off here at the Zoo or she is currently at Duke university hospital Duke North Room 8313 Christine Kilby. They might let her come home with a feeding tube and home nurse until she is strong enough for the surgery, we will notify everyone when if she is allowed to. I would like to thank everyone for there patience with us on days we are running a little behind and opening a few minutes late. It is very hard for me to be away from my wife and I have learned just how hard it is to be in her shoes with taking care of our daughter and doing everything she does here at the zoo. Thank you for those that have helped out.

I would like to inform everyone my wife Christine went back in the hospital on Sunday July 31, 2016. The first diagnosis and surgery was not wrong this has turned out to be a different issue. With my wife in the hospital there will be delays on responses to discovery tour request due to the amount of pain she is in and the medication they have her on. We apologize for this inconvenience. Your visit will not be altered in any way while my wife is in the hospital as our staff which is like family to us is stepping up and making sure each day goes as smoothly as possible without Christine here. My wife is an amazing woman who does so much here at the zoo and takes amazing care of all the animals and our 19 month old daughter Nala. We would like to thank everyone for there kind words and support during this time.

Luray Zoo welcomes two new zoo family members! Two cute prickley little african crested porcupines. They are only a few weeks old and are doing great! They will not be on display until they are older. We will be setting up some meet and greet times so zoo patrons can visit them. The first meet and greet will be 9/13/15 at 2pm. We do need some help naming the little ones so think of some names. Use the form below to help us name these new zoo members (One is a boy and one is a girl)
