About The Zoo

Luray Zoo is a Rescue Zoo, dedicated to providing animals with a loving and caring home. The zoo is privately owned and operated by Mark and Christine Kilby. Luray Zoo receives no government funding. All admission, gift shop sales, donations, and outreach programs fees goes directly to help support and care for all the animals at Luray Zoo. The Zoo receives animals that are retired zoo animals, unwanted pets, confiscations, and sadly occasionally abused animals. While you tour the 3+ acre facility the owners are always out and about caring for the animals, and are able to answer your questions! Mark and Christine love to educate the public about animals, to help people understand animals better, as well as to educate the importance of conservation of species, and the importance of proper and responsible pet keeping. Luray Zoo offers one of the largest venomous snake collections on the east coast, outside exhibits where you can get up close with the zoo animals, as well as a petting zoo. During the summer the zoo offers educational shows on the weekends that are included in the admission price.
