Luray ZOO is home to many
unique animal
faces.
Each animal face
has its own story, some were unwanted pets, others were animal
ambassadors for their kind. What ever their case they now find their
home among 250 other animals at
Luray ZOO.
Luray Zoo acquired many exotic animals that were
once owned as pets.
Sadly some
people don't think
about the long
term care
required for
many of these
animals.
The curators
and zookeepers are always on hand to educate the visitors on each one of these special animals and the role
they play in our environment.
"I really like him a lot,
it's just that I can't take
care of him
anymore,
I'm moving and he is getting
to big."
These are just a few of the things
we hear on a weekly basis at the
Luray
Zoo. When the Luray Zoo takes
an animal a lot of thought goes behind it,
such as, can we afford the medical needs and food costs of this animal?
The Luray Zoo must
turn away many animals.
Please help us by remembering pets are for life!
